Urban Waterfront Winery Wedding in Washington, DC

I believe that you can get married just about anywhere. In order to narrow down that list, consider a spot that is meaningful to the two of you. There are so many locations that can host your wedding that you would never expect! Places like a hotel rooftop, ivy-covered garden, or even your own backyard. For Katie and Ryan, they chose District Winery, a waterfront winery in Washington, DC as their special wedding spot.

District Winery is one of my favorite Washington, DC wedding venues. Here are the many reasons why you should consider it for your big day!

A Lot of Variety, A Lot of Beauty

This venue is right on the water in Navy Yard, so the views are incredible! You get a nice breeze from the waterfront location which creates such a gorgeous setting. This location offers a variety of spaces including a rooftop patio, a second floor with floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the water, and a mezzanine level set aside exclusively for weddings. Katie and Ryan chose the rooftop deck for their outdoor ceremony, but you use each space however you like!

If you’re concerned about the weather, District Winery does not miss a beat for your wedding. The rooftop terrace has a sliding glass cover just in case of rain! One hiccup we encountered was not rain, but wind. During the last bit of taking family photos pre-ceremony it got super windy. Fortunately, because we had taken 99% of the photos beforehand, we were able to get these last few after the ceremony when the wind had died down.

Get as many photos done pre-ceremony as possible! Your day will be SO much more relaxed and you get to spend extra time with your new spouse and guests once the party begins! I would even advise doing day-before or day-after photos to really allow for as many photo options as you wish to explore!

A Space That Covers All Your Bases

Another bonus feature of this location is the fact that District Winery is an all-inclusive wedding venue. This means that the food, drinks, day-of coordinator, linens, chairs, etc. are all included in your venue space rental. There’s also a wedding suite available for getting ready or hanging out throughout the day. Katie and Ryan’s pup, Arya, was even permitted to join the festivities as the ring bearer!

District Winery makes sure that your day is basically taken care of for you!
