My heart could not be more full from photographing Shireen and Ryan’s outdoor elopement. They decided to elope on the anniversary of their first date at a park just down the street from where Shireen grew up. The highlight of their elopement was the intimate setting (it was just the two of them and their pup!) and the beautiful touches from each spring wedding flower that made up Shireen’s floral crown and bouquet. Following two postponements in 2020, it was such a gift to capture these two finally getting married!
The bride grew up in Falls Church, Virginia just down the street from their elopement spot at Frady Park. In her childhood, Shireen would walk to the park from her house with her dog, Jasper. She always thought the park was a hidden gem in her little city and had pictured a small ceremony there. Exactly one year later they held a vow renewal with family and friends at the same spot. Shireen never expected this idea to actually come to fruition and definitely not twice!
In this lush green setting, Shireen had a spring wedding flower for every special moment of their elopement day. From the bride’s floral crown to the groom’s boutonniere, these florals were all provided by the amazing Wander + Whimsy Floral. I’ve worked with them on many occasions and they did the epic florals for this couple’s vow renewal too! Even their rescue pup, Lucky, joined them dressed for the occasion with a green-spotted bandana around his neck.
Due to local restrictions at the time, their officiant led the ceremony via a live call that was streamed and recorded for family and friends. So, Lucky and I were the witnesses to their elopement and you could literally feel the joy radiating from every photo I took. I definitely cried on everyone’s behalf from behind the lens!
But, these two weren’t truly alone! Their tight-knit community did everything they could to make the elopement day special. From delivering a spring wedding flower or two on their apartment patio to decorating their front door with balloons and confetti–everyone showed up in their own way!
As the couple puts it, “The photos of our elopement perfectly capture our love for each other and the excitement we felt. When we look at them, the emotions are palpable…the day was perfect!”

Just one year later, all of the newlyweds’ closest family and friends joined them in the very same spot where they had eloped to share in Shireen and Ryan’s vow renewal. This time their day included a truly special first look at a lighting store, once again with Wander + Whimsy making every spring wedding flower a perfect complement to the day. To these newlyweds, returning to this spot felt surreal, they couldn’t believe how it all came together!
