Festive Winter Wedding at The Red Fox Inn

Couple cheers while embracing at festive winter wedding

It was a COVID romance. During the worst of times in 2020, these two met online and spent several months video chatting before finally meeting in person. They covered so much ground in these first couple of months talking virtually that it felt so natural when they met in person. Even after being cautious for so long, following their first meeting, Leslie promptly and unintentionally passed COVID along to John.

Later, Leslie’s best friend said, “You already tried to kill him, so it must be meant to be.” They’ve been together ever since (check out their Kennedy Center engagement session). I guess she was right!

A Bond Over Christmas

One of the first things that brought these two closer together was bonding over the Christmas in July Hallmark movies. These conversations prompted them to start talking more frequently about anything and everything. So, having a festive winter wedding during Christmastime only made sense!!

Chosen as the venue for their wintry wedding was The Red Fox Inn & Tavern of Middleburg, Virginia. It is a historic site that has options for the reception, ceremony, and all parts of the day both indoors and outdoors. It was all this couple needed to create their winter wonderland!

Winter Wedding Details

Usually, it’s the bridesmaid’s dresses and flowers and how they coordinate with the bride’s dress that sets the style. For this festive winter wedding, the inspiration came from the groom’s jacket! The groom’s green and blue plaid tuxedo jacket and the bride’s (plus her bridesmaids) fur wraps set the tone for the day!

According to the wedding day coordinator, the couple wanted to make their winter theme clear through the design of their wedding. The winter green and blue tones of John’s jacket were carried throughout. It was used all the way down to the ribbon that tied the wedding favors!

Here are some of the festive winter wedding details that they included!

  • Bear snow globe ornaments for escort cards wrapped in a velvet bag.
  • Hot chocolate mixes in jars finished off with a green velvet bow as the wedding favor.
  • Christmas trees with twinkle lights throughout the venue.
  • Greenery with touches of red berries and roses for the table decor.
  • Cozy plaid green blankets provided for guests.
  • Velvet light and dark green bridesmaid dresses.
  • Green velvet tablecloths and white candles.

A COVID Love Story

In reflecting upon their relationship story, Leslie shared, “Despite starting our life together at a strange time, we’re grateful that it allowed us to build the foundation that will help us sustain our love and friendship throughout our lives. Marriage is a lot of hard work. Being with someone who understands that and is making the same commitment while making you laugh is a pretty great place to move forward together from.”

Some of the many things these newlyweds are looking forward to in their new life is participating in events that they couldn’t when they were dating virtually. Leslie and John can’t wait to experience concerts, theater, movies, and so much more now that they are together FOREVER!
