This couple fit the venue, and the venue fit them. This isn’t always the case, but sometimes there is a match that just works. It helps when the couple is already really comfortable together like these two. Their story story together began as high school sweethearts 12 years prior. This usually carries over into a confidence in what they desire for their day. For this couple’s wedding at Walker’s Overlook, the pieces of their day seamlessly came together in a beautiful way.
Bethany and Aaryn pulled from a fall wedding color palette matching their rustic surroundings with touches of elegance. As they described it, “we went with a neutral, fall vibe. Our highlight color is a burnt orange with beige, cream, and gold as accent colors. We termed our theme for the wedding as “elegant boho” since we loved the associated colors with a bohemian feel but didn’t want the generic decor.”
The florist did an amazing job bringing these boho chic wedding decorations to life in a non-stereotypical way at Walker’s Overlook. Even though they didn’t opt for DIY wedding decorations, I loved how they found ways to customize their boho wedding decor ideas. Bethany added, “From our small flat lay details to our signage, we wanted things to look like they were tied together with our theme.” How the greenery and florals were hung on the lights along the tent ceiling really elevated the space making the warmer colors pop!
Walker’s Overlook is a Maryland farm wedding venue that offers a tree-lined drive, brick farm house, and ceremony spot underneath a beautifully aged walnut tree. It is the first venue in The Overlooks family which are some of the best wedding venues in Maryland (including Dulany’s Overlook).
A venue can catch a couple’s eye due to its look or simply because it will host their wedding size. For Bethany, choosing this venue “was a no-brainer when I saw their bridal suite and I loved how I could envision the flow of events for the day of the wedding.”
The couple shared more about their venue selection: “We loved the rustic quaint feel: from the driveway, to the large bridal and groomsmen suite, to the ceremony tree, and the photo-ops surrounding the property. We were very impressed how one property could pretty much check everything off our list! We absolutely love Walker’s Overlook!”
The couple’s love for their two huskies extended beyond having them present for the ceremony and photos. They had a lifelike figure of each on either side of the cake looking as though they were eating it! With a unique cake flavor like lemon blueberry, there also were cupcakes for more traditional tastes. The two pups also appeared on the cocktail napkins with their own personalized message.
Apart from customizations to their decor that tied in their boho wedding style, Bethany and Aaryn found other ways to personalize their Walker’s Overlook wedding day:
What mattered the most to Bethany and Aaryn about their big day was the ceremony, their intimate time together, and the party itself! They made sure that the day marking the actual finality of their marriage included many private moments. These included a first look, golden hour photos during the reception, and a reception room reveal followed by a private last dance. Also, that they made the most of their time. As Bethany put it, “celebrating with all of our closest family and friends in the same place.” They did just that!
