Marilyn and Adam sought to have a nontraditional wedding from the beginning. They wanted an intimate setting for their family and closest friends to celebrate with them as they became husband and wife. Adam is from the Washington, DC area and met Marilyn through work at his company’s New York City branch. Although they both live in NYC now, they knew they wanted to tie the knot in the Washington, DC! I was fortunate enough to be the one chosen to do their DC wedding photography!
These two fell in love with the unique and charming qualities of the historic Tabard Inn for their on their first venue tour and looked no further after that! It was the perfect urban and garden setting for their guests to mingle and dance. Marilyn and Adam had their first look right outside the nearby Iron Gate Restaurant and the three of us ventured around Dupont Circle capturing gorgeous DC wedding photography on their big day.
Family is so important to these two especially since everyone had to travel so far for the wedding. The couple wanted to spend as much time with their guests during the reception as possible! Their wedding date was actually centered around the anniversaries of both their parents and grandparents. During the reception they even dedicated songs to each. Another highlight of the night was the most amazing donut cake designed by the inn and the bride!
I had met these two lovebirds months prior for their engagement shoot under the Washington, DC cherry blossom trees! You would never know how cold it was (snow-flurry cold by the way) as Marilyn was such a trooper. Her spring dress fit so perfectly with the blossoms at the Tidal Basin despite the cold. If you are looking for classic Washington, DC photography starting with your engagement photos then the Tidal Basin is always beautiful (especially during the spring when the cherry blossoms are in bloom)! You can even check out this couple’s cherry blossom engagement photos featured over on Capital Romance!
DC wedding photography and beyond is my speciality so I would love to hear where and when you are planning your wedding!
