St. Regis DC Hotel–A Place Meant for Celebration

The St. Regis Washington DC is a historic site in the city that boasts having hosted “world leaders, dignitaries, royalty, and Hollywood icons” throughout its history. It’s a staple of DC hotel wedding venues offering the right mix of beautiful settings and amenities for an urban wedding day.

Adelaide and Will found themselves drawn first to the old time charm and aura of the location. It is so elegant and gives off a classic Washington, DC venue feel. The spot is conveniently located near everything which is perfect for out-of-town guests who want to see the sights! Visitors can also stay in the hotel itself which the couple took advantage of as their wedding getting-ready space.

Couples can’t help but be pulled in by the architecture and interior details of this DC landmark. The St. Regis DC hotel is a grand historic space with Beaux-Arts and Neo-Renaissance design that opened in 1926. It provides great ease with its wedding package inclusions starting with their in-house catering.

Options for Photographing a St. Regis DC Hotel Wedding Day

Capturing this location was really exciting for me as a DC wedding photographer. I love all of the interior and exterior details (arches, windows, gates, etc.) that offer variety for their shots. It was also easy to get around compared to other DC wedding venues that have to rely upon an elevator or someone letting us in with a key. Everything is on the main level of the hotel so there isn’t any wait time due to elevator transitions. We were free to roam the site for some amazing wedding photography!

Although the weather was a little stormy that day, the venue still provided plenty of natural light. Cocktail hour was held in a great indoor Salon space just inside of the Astor Terrace that the crazy downpour and wind prevented us from using.

Doing a first look and couples photos prior to the ceremony saved us! Indoors in the ballroom or outdoors on the terrace are both beautiful ceremony space options.

A Vision for Both Elegance and Personal Touches

Adelaide and Will wanted a day that brought everyone they cared about into the same room. The St. Regis DC hotel provided this setting starting with the couple’s getting-ready photos. The wedding party was only their nearest and dearest consisting primarily of siblings (and one boyfriend!). Everyone already knew each other very well so it made for sweet moments during this portion of the day.

Parents were also included by the bride and groom walking down the aisle each accompanied by their parents. The bride’s wedding processional song even matched the one used by her parents at their own wedding.

Other touches that left the couple’s mark were found in the decor. Wedding colors for this early January wedding focused on earthy tones including chocolate brown and sage accented with gold. This is one of Adelaide’s favorite color combinations and it went beautifully with the venue in its post-Christmas winter context.

Some DIY wedding features involved adding prints of their pre-wedding photography on the high-top tables during cocktail hour. We captured a day-before session in Shenandoah National Park one day prior. The bride wanted everyone to see these absolutely beautiful sunset wedding photos we caught on Skyline Drive and in the fields!

The couple also prioritized private wedding moments ranging from a reception room reveal to a last dance together after everyone went outside for the sparkler exit. Wanting to remember everything from their first dance to how it felt watching the bride walk down the aisle–nothing was missed on this elegant day.
