The thought and planning that my clients put into their wedding day always astounds me. Melissa and Joe’s wedding is a perfect example of this! Their incredible, intimate wedding in the backyard of their historic home was full of love, personal ties, and connection in every single detail. Here are some steps they used to make an intimate backyard ceremony the wedding of their dreams!
Ever wonder how to make the little elements of a backyard wedding both personal and meaningful? For Melissa’s something blue, she had a special necklace attached to her bouquet while Joe had lightsabers on his boutonnieres!
I couldn’t believe it when I found out that Melissa’s mom did all the décor. This whole wedding was a homemade labor of love from start to finish.
They even incorporated the most beautiful watercolor rendering of their home on the inside of their stationery for their invitations. Like I said, the fantastic details they thought of blew my mind!
Melissa and Joe have been restoring this historic Samford, CT house to be their first home together. Utilizing smaller, privately-owned spaces turns unpredictable wedding plans into magical and personal wedding days!
This couples’ home became a perfect little getaway for friends. They found it so important to have their closest friends and family around on their day to witness their vows and their new home made all of that possible.
For photos of Melissa’s gown, I just love that I was able to hang it on the restored staircase against a wall of historical family photos with beautiful light streaming through the windows. It gives that heirloom feel that I believe will endure for years.
Having a wedding in your backyard (like this one) is not what you may traditionally think. This couple refinished all their hardwood floors by hand and built a stone patio together where they shared their first dance. They literally laid the foundation for their life together, both physically and covenantally.
A backyard wedding allows you to invest in what matters most: the photography, an epic wedding dress, and a world-class meal.
You can waste so much money on a venue that has restrictions on when you can be there and for how long. Instead, you can focus on making your day well thought-out and personal.
This couples’ simple ceremony was simple, heartfelt, and underneath a beautiful botanical arbor. (alllll the tears definitely happened behind the camera)
After dancing together in their backyard under the twinkle lights with all of their favorite people around them, Melissa and Joe started their new life together in the backyard of the beloved home they created.
