Knowing which venue is the right option for your wedding story can be a tough choice to make. You want to make sure it’s the perfect fit for the season and size of your wedding, all while staying within your budget. It’s also a bonus when a venue can be a catch-all location for both your ceremony and reception. This couple found the perfect combination of all of the above at Airlie of Warrenton, VA!
Cat and Alex walked into their wedding day with specific expectations and hopes, and Arlie of Warrenton, VA exceeded them! Their vision for the day was to walk away remembering three moments: the first look, first kiss, and first dance. All the firsts of their new married life! Airlie offers the variety necessary to make each of these moments unique!
Cat explained their selection of the venue: “We love that Airlie is very earthy, grounding, and romantic. The atmosphere really puts you at peace and gives you a natural quietness as we generally both veer away from loud and chaotic places.”

In addition to the relaxed overall vibe of this Virginia wedding venue, its natural colors perfectly complemented the couple’s decor. They went with naturals, whites, and mauve or berry accents. Cat explained, “I really wanted a color palette that matched the venue, that was very natural and earthy and peaceful. The berries are some of our favorite colors, and with mauve it really pops from the natural colors while staying somewhat muted and earthy.”
One of the many reasons I recommend Airlie Warrenton, VA for weddings is because of its 300 acres of farmland that hosts a variety of wedding locations spread out over seven buildings. Here are some of this Northern Virginia countryside venue’s best features!
OLD POST ROOM: bridal getting ready. It’s completely separate on the property so there’s no chance you’ll run into each other! But, the venue has to transport you there so you’ll need to buffer in extra transition time in your timeline. There’s also a hallway with large windows where this bride put on her veil following the first look as a surprise for the groom!
FOX ROOM: groom getting ready (in manor house).
BUTTERFLY GARDEN: the most private area, I recommend it for the first look like this couple did with their pup, Percy.
GARDEN TERRACE: ceremony (alternative space is the Arlie Manor House itself) and cocktail hour with a garden that borders the terrace.
THE PAVILION: adjacent to the Garden Terrace, it’s an indoor reception space easily accessible to guests (alternative reception space is the Lakeside Tent).
MANOR HOUSE STAIRCASE: first look, couples photos and wedding party. This gorgeous staircase transports you straight to Europe with all of its super European feels.
FIELD: sunset couples photos.
I recommend Airlie in Warrenton, VA for weddings in spring, summer, or fall like Cat and Alex. With all of the location options you can really make the day your own in each of these seasons! Depending on the space you utilize, most work best for small to medium intimate weddings. If you’re planning on a larger crowd, opting for one of the outdoor spaces is your best bet!
Apart from the decor and all the options that Airlie in Warrenton, VA has to offer, it was the little touches unique to the couple that made their wedding personalized. Smaller additions included the groomsmen’s cufflinks and socks each being a Marvel character (the groom was Captain America). The bridesmaids were given a cute matching robe including the mother of the bride.
The greatest little touch that I enjoyed the most was including their pet Corgi, Percy in their day! Their pup wore his own little tux and joined them for both the first look and the ceremony (as co-ring bearer). They used a tactic that I highly recommend when including pets on your wedding day which was hiring an outside service to care for your pup.
This couple used Pawfect for You and they kept Percy entertained and on time with his own timeline! This is a perfect option to relieve any loved ones of this responsibility. The pet usually ends up having a much better time! Percy was included again with his photo printed on the guest favors for those with pets which were bags with a treat inside. The favors for humans were Hershey kisses!
Other details included setting aside a chair with flowers and a sign in honor of the bride’s grandmother. Some unique additions were a live wedding painter and a private last dance which has become more common at weddings. During a last dance the couple dances alone in the empty reception space while guests gather for the sparkler exit. It’s another great opportunity for a private and meaningful moment in the day!
This couple had so many opportunities to create the wedding day of their dreams using the variety that Airlie of Warrenton, Va offered combined with each unique touch they added that represented the two of them.
