You don’t need to look for a reason to do a boudoir shoot. Whatever the occasion or the event, the time to do it is whenever you are ready! We’re here to celebrate you because, girl, you deserve a day to invest in and focus on yourself. Boudoir portraits are always an investment in you. Here’s what to expect at a boudoir session that is entirely meant for you!

Boudoir 101: Why It Is Meant For You

While you don’t need a reason to treat yourself, I have many options to choose from if you’re looking for one! Many ladies come to me wanting to celebrate themselves and it’s a bonus that these photos can also be used as a gift for their partner too!

What is boudoir photography?

I define boudoir photography as a self love session that is a celebration of the female form. It’s a day to flaunt your assets, feel crazy confident, and honor all that your body has done for you in a safe space where light and shadow showcase your favorite features.

It’s also a way to see yourself through a different lens that lifts your confidence. That means I’ll guide you every step of the way and photograph you exactly as you are. I strongly believe that the #1 reason behind choosing boudoir should be doing it for yourself!

Who is boudoir photography for?

No matter your age, it’s a celebration of you, your story, and everything that has gone into getting you to where you are in life today. Secondly, a boudoir session is for your partner. The secondary benefit to doing boudoir for yourself is putting together a wonderful gift for your partner. You can even surprise them with it like this bride did for her groom on the wedding day itself!

But, you don’t need a special occasion or even a wedding or a partner to do a boudoir session. I have photographed brides, moms, women in their 60s, singles, women celebrating turning 30, etc. The occasion or reason is whatever you make it!

How will boudoir photos make me feel?

I know from my experience as your boudoir photographer that these photos make women feel INCREDIBLE! After sharing the results, these ladies always respond with an amazed, “OMG, is that really me!?”

As one client shared about her final results, “I really connected with the modern, almost effortless look to the boudoir photos that resembled film.”

Even when someone does the session for their partner as a wedding gift, they say the entire experience is an act of self love and that they get so much out of it. The gift itself just ends up being a bonus!

How do I get comfortable during the boudoir session?

It’s totally normal to feel a little nervous in front of the camera since you may have never done this kind of a session before. We chat about any particular areas of concern and I keep all of this in mind when guiding you through your session as insecurities may creep up.

Providing comfort begins with your pre-session questionnaire that asks about what you love about your body, your favorite music, and anything else you would want me to know beforehand. I focus on what you love about your body so that we can put an emphasis on photographing those areas.

Your gallery is also locked to a private setting so only you can choose to share it. I do not share any images without your approval. For example, some women are totally fine with sharing photos if there are no defining features or links to them. Everyone has their own comfort level with this and we will respect your chosen level of privacy.

I capture other types of boudoir portraits including boudoir couples photography and maternity boudoir too! This is in addition to regular maternity photo sessions that I photograph for couples too. Let’s do the type of boudoir photoshoot that works best for you!
